Heellloo everybody !!
Just wanted to tell you bout my trip to Norway last week..........
If you had the impression or understanding that a DIY boarding trip would work out cheap, then think again. The only thing cheap about my last trip was the flights i booked through Ryanair. To give them their dues it was only £60 return including board carriage, this was from Newcastle to Oslo Torp (just south of the city). I saw it advertised for 1p so there was no way i could let that baby slip. Anyway all that was great but the rest of the trip worked out pretty steep.... we are talking £22 for a hostel dorm bed per night (in the city), airport transfers £35, food was rediculously priced, like maccy d's breakfast was about £8 ... anyway you get the idea.
I stayed there a total of 5 days on the tightest budget imaginable, got to board at Tryvann resort (Oslo) Hafjell resort at Lillehammer and finally Trysil bout 3 hours from the capital. I must say despite the crazy cost of everything the whole experience was class !! Tons of fresh all week all over Norway, sunny, dry, no wind and even better.... no ques !! the whole 5 days the resorts seems empty, no lift ques, no ski schools trying to run you of the slope I couldnt have asked for a better setup.
First of all Tryvann resort is pretty small its only got about 20 runs or so in total, but when you've got it more or less to yourself you dont really care. It had a nice little park, a few rails, plenty of jibbing going on and amazing scenery. It was well worth spending the day there, check it out. Its only half an hour from downtown Oslo on the metro so its ideal for a day trip.
http://www.tryvann.no/index.jsp?SDP_CHANGE_USERLANG=en I spent the next few days at Hafjell near Lillehammer where the Winter Olympics were held back in the mid years sometime. Ive gotta say this place was an average size resort in terms of european standards but was way more intense than im used to. The mountain is pretty steep but being empty i had plenty of time and space to do my thing and not worry about others. Again lift pass prices were high, standard norway but still worth it. Its a little more challenging than the average mountain but it pushes your limits a bit more.

This place was great tho, loads of different runs, good scenery again, empty again, just a really good resort for anyone i think. To generalize it had a bit of everything... good park, good lifts. I attempted to buy my lunch in one of the cafes there until i saw the price $$$ so needless to say i ended up sitting in the changing room eating ham butties and drinking tap water.
http://www.trysil.com/IPX/?template=ewAnyway it wasnt cheap overall but i think it might be the same or even a tiny bit less than a package deal but well, well worth the trip. So if your planning a trip to Norway and you save a ton of cash by going with ryanair, be assured all of it and more will go on the cost of living/boarding. I think it more or less would balance with going to the alps ! price wise.
The resorts there are great, people friendly, really nice country. I definately wouldnt rule out another visit.
